Procurement teams routinely report projected savings from sourcing events and negotiations to justify the function's value, but rarely have a systematic way to verify those savings actually materialize in subsequent invoices, since price creep, off-contract purchasing, or unrealized volume commitments can quietly erode the projected benefit without anyone tracking it

Finance and leadership are often left taking savings claims on faith, and by the time a savings audit happens the gap between projected and realized savings can be substantial and hard to explain retroactively

This agent closes that gap by tying each sourcing event's projected savings to the actual invoice and purchase data that follows, continuously comparing negotiated pricing against what suppliers actually billed, and flagging leakage the moment realized savings fall short of what was projected, with root cause detail so the shortfall can be addressed immediately rather than discovered a year later

The agent is triggered when a sourcing event or negotiation closes with a documented projected savings figure and negotiated price baseline. It continuously monitors subsequent purchase orders and invoices against that supplier and category, comparing actual billed pricing to the negotiated baseline and actual purchase volume to the sourcing event's volume assumptions, using LLM-based analysis to explain variance drivers such as price creep, specification changes, or lower-than-assumed volume. It calculates realized savings on a rolling basis and generates leakage alerts when realized savings fall meaningfully short of the original projection, with supporting transaction-level evidence.

1

Capture Projected Savings Baseline

  • Record the negotiated price and projected savings from each sourcing event
  • Capture the volume and duration assumptions underlying the projection
  • Link the baseline to the relevant supplier, category, and contract
  • Set the tracking window based on contract term
Outcome: A documented savings baseline is established and linked to future transaction tracking.
2

Monitor Actual Purchase and Invoice Data

  • Track subsequent purchase orders and invoices against the baseline
  • Compare actual billed unit pricing to the negotiated price
  • Compare actual purchase volume to projected volume assumptions
  • Flag off-contract or maverick purchases bypassing negotiated pricing
Outcome: Actual spend behavior is continuously compared against the original savings assumptions.
3

Calculate Realized Savings and Identify Leakage

  • Calculate rolling realized savings versus projected savings
  • Identify and categorize variance drivers behind any shortfall
  • Flag price creep, specification drift, or volume shortfall separately
  • Generate a leakage alert when realized savings fall below threshold
Outcome: Savings leakage is identified with a clear breakdown of its root cause.
4

Report Savings Performance

  • Compile realized versus projected savings by category and supplier
  • Route leakage alerts to the responsible category manager
  • Generate quarterly savings realization summary for finance and leadership
  • Recommend corrective action for recurring leakage sources
Outcome: Finance and procurement leadership receive verified, evidence-backed savings performance reporting.
