The agent ingests location and status data from RFID or Bluetooth asset tags attached to tracked mobile equipment, combined with department checkout and return logs where tagging isn't available, to maintain a real-time view of where each device is and whether it's in active use, idle, or in maintenance. When a department requests equipment or initiates a rental request, the agent checks current facility-wide inventory for available, idle units in other departments before the request proceeds, flagging opportunities to redeploy existing equipment instead of renting. It separately flags devices with no location update or checkout activity beyond a configured window as potentially lost or hoarded, routing these to facilities for physical audit, and aggregates utilization data by device type and department to support future purchasing decisions.
