The agent follows each specimen from order to collection, transport, receipt, and accessioning. It monitors SLA timers, temperature and chain-of-custody events, alerts on at-risk or missing specimens, and provides operational dashboards for lab and nursing leaders.
Register Collection Events
- Link specimen labels to orders and patient identity at collection
- Capture collector, time, site, and container type
- Validate label-patient match and required draw conditions
Track Transport and Hand-offs
- Monitor pneumatic tube, courier, and runner scan events
- Track temperature-sensitive and timed specimens (e.g., lactate, ABG)
- Detect stalled specimens exceeding transit SLAs
Confirm Accessioning and Integrity
- Match receipt and accession scans in the LIS
- Flag hemolysis risk, unlabeled, mislabeled, or quantity-not-sufficient issues
- Update expected turnaround clocks by test priority
Recover Exceptions and Report Performance
- Alert nursing and lab on missing or delayed specimens
- Coordinate recollection when required
- Publish lost-specimen, rejection, and TAT performance metrics
