Course Evaluation Survey Analysis Agent
Aggregates and analyzes end-of-term course evaluation survey responses to surface instructor performance trends and course quality issues.
Every term, departments collect thousands of open-ended and rating-scale responses from student course evaluations, but most institutions only skim the numeric averages because reading every free-text comment across hundreds of sections is impractical for a small academic affairs staff
This means recurring complaints about pacing, unclear grading, or outdated materials go unaddressed for years, and genuinely strong instructors rarely get recognized for what specifically works in their teaching
This agent processes every rating and comment from course evaluation surveys, applies sentiment and theme analysis to the free-text responses, and produces a structured report per course and per instructor that highlights specific, actionable patterns
It benchmarks results against departmental and institutional norms so chairs can distinguish a genuine outlier from typical variation
The agent pulls raw survey exports from the course evaluation platform, normalizing rating-scale responses and running the free-text comments through a sentiment and topic-extraction model tuned on higher-education evaluation language. It clusters comments into recurring themes such as pacing, clarity, workload, and materials quality, then correlates theme frequency with the numeric ratings to identify which specific factors are driving high or low scores for each section. Results are benchmarked against department and institutional historical baselines to flag statistically meaningful outliers in either direction, and a per-instructor and per-course summary report is generated for department chairs and the teaching and learning center.
